PLAYDAY RULES
SIGN-UP
Playdays will start at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. The arena will be cleared 15 minutes
prior to the start in order to complete the event setup. There will be no riding in the area during this time.
You will need to sign up by the time that your class begins. Late arrivals will be able to ride the first event
only if the event is still set up in the arena.
**Trainers must have released forms signed by legal guardians of their students. **
Coggins Notice: All riders/families participating in a playday will be asked to sign verification that they have the Coggins form (Negative EIA), provide the expiration date and the certificate number. This will need to be included for every horse that is brought to DRC. Having this protects our club from any liability from the state. Unfortunately, if you do not have this or if it is expired, we will have to ask you to leave the property.

GATEWAY AREA
The area around the gates must be kept clear at all times. This is especially true for all children. Please
make certain that if your child(ren) play, they need to do so in the fenced area where it is safe for play.
This area is located in front of the concession stand.
ALLEYWAY
Riders need to enter from the east side of the alley and exit on the west side. The rider should enter and
exit with their horse under control, preferably at a walk if at all possible. At the discretion of the
judge(s) and ultimately the playday chairman, a rider can be warned and ultimately disqualified for the
event if this rule is not adhered to.
CALL TO COMPETE
A rider’s name will be called three (3) times only. If unable to make the call, it is up to the rider to
inform the announcer of the problem (i.e. broken tack or other problems). If the announcer is not notified
by the third call, the rider will be disqualified.
ANNOUNCER STAND
The announcer stand is off limits to anyone except the playday committee members, event workers, or
those who are specifically requested to come to the announcer stand.
LANGUAGE/ALCOHOL
The use of profane language, alcohol, or disorderly conduct of any kind will be sufficient cause for
disqualification from any Denton Roundup Club sanctioned activity.
EQUIPMENT/DRESS CODE
Western equipment is compulsory (i.e. no bareback rigging or pads). Helmets can be worn at the
discretion of the ride. All contestant's riding attire is the responsibility of the rider, however for safety reasons,
DRC requires heeled riding shoes/boots.
ASSISTANCE
If the parent of a rider so desires, he/she may be present in the arena to assist the rider for reasons of the
rider’s safety only. The rider cannot have any assistance past the timer line to compete in the event unless
he/she is participating in the lead line class. Anyone else that has assistance past the timer line will
receive a “no time.”
INQUIRY/PROTEST
An inquiry or protest must be presented prior to the start of the next event to the playday committee.
When the committee makes a decision, that decision is final.

Ribbons will be awarded to the first six (6) places in each event if they are requested upon entering.

in the awarding of the points. Points will only count once you become a member and pay dues.

1st – 6 pts, 2nd – 5 pts, 3rd – 4 pts, 4th – 3 pts, 5th – 2 pts, and 6th – 1 pt.
YEAR-END AWARDS
In order to qualify for the year-end awards, each rider must ride in a minimum of 80% of playdays from date of membership.
5 or more qualified riders constitutes a class that is eligible to a high point saddle.
If you join after the season has begun, your minimum number will be adjusted.
There will be no buying up or adding to awards. Individuals will get what was decided on by the awards committee for each placing.
Each single membership is required to work one (1) workday.
Each family membership is required to work two (2) workdays.
Each intermediate rider or above is required to work at each attended playday for riders in younger classes.
One (1) adult per membership is required to work (see work list during signup).
The board will provide a sign-up sheet for workers to document this.
There will also be a book that needs to be signed and verified by a board member when you complete a workday, which is your responsibility.
